Random Gemstone Generator

Post  Go0gleplex on Tue Jul 20, 2010 1:28 am

Ever wanted a bit more to a gem than "you find a malachite worth 5 gp?" Well...now there's a handy little tool to help with that.

Roberts Gemstone Generator can be obtained by e-mailing him at serleran [at] gmail period com

It's set up for two different results. one, the "fantasy gems" are essentially the detailed traits of the gem with a gold piece value. CKs can name the gems whatever they want from this.

The second is the "Real World Gems" that generate the real world gemstone name and an appropriate gold piece value. Details on the gem can be utilized from the fantasy gem generator as desired.

Both types of results generate off a single button selection (the quirks have been fixed and it works quite smoothly now).

The spreadsheet is in excel '07 format, again due to language and nesting limitations not compatible with '03.

Enjoy.

made a minor correction to this...nothing major. If interested in an updated copy let me or Serl at the TLG forums know.

Serleran is a random-table-generating fiend! He's got tables for everything...! Laughing Both he and Sieg are table-hogs, they drove me crazy with their articles when I was doing layout for Crusader. Still, gotta admit if you want "old-school" feel, you gotta have tables.

Should I even ask if the program works with creaky old Office 2000? Embarassed

unfortunately it only works with '07 or '10 due to function and sheet reference differences between '07 and '03. However, if you're a current student, I know a site where you can get a full professional MS package for less than $90. Wink
